Kong Hans

Kong Hans – where gothic arches fold the walls to hold them still and calm

Hark! Retreat ye bellow-clouds, your thunders don't employ!
Let sunlight gild the cobbled stones: light up our streets with joy.
Let bells ring out bright harmonies, let music shun the rain,
I've found the old mediaeval rooms where King Hans lives again!

Down stairs that take you lower down, stairs stepped by Kings and Queens,
Are oldest rooms in 'København' which housed past courtly scenes;
Which now is gourmet restaurant whose guests do journey in
To sit and dine in Time, and have fine meals fit for a King.

Fine salmon, wines and fine delights are dishes you can choose,
While crystal glass and golden silver lay the tables smooth.
And gothic arches fold the walls to hold them still and calm:
Embracing rare an atmosphere unique in mystic charm.

King Hans, from fourteen eighty-one, did rule the Danish land,
And wanted Sweden rejoin Norway in a royal plan.
Through 'yes' and 'no's' and battled blows, done deals were done, undone.
Hans died in fifteen-thirteen: left the throne to seat his son.

To us he's left this heirloom royal; he’s left us nought for want,
For we've preserved its walls from Time in form of restaurant,
Where food and ancient history in harmony revive,
Our hearts and minds with memories to keep King Hans, alive!

Let life commence
From great events
In style with dear old King, Kong Hans!
