Café Somersko

Cafe Sommersko – the first real Danish French cafe!

As Earth spins round from West to East on axis North and South,
Spins with it seas and lands with souls that human form doth house.
On one such land are houses where the Danes in commune dwell;
They feast in bars and cafés. One such café forms my tale.

As popular as food is now, this place now is in name:
The first real Danish French café – this fact increased its fame;
For posters, mirrors, chandeliers, time-clock from d'Angleterre,
Add taste to brash Bohemia with dash of Danish flare.

On Saturdays and Sunday morns, right through to Friday night,
It’s imbued with hospitality, warmed up by glow of light
That falls on glasses hung up upside down by lines of holding steel
– Coloured liquors likewise hang, but corked up tight so they don't spill.

I've been to Paris many times, used bus and metro train.
When I discovered caf' I found myself in France again;
So then bought I a brunch and sipped up smooth that drink from Italy:
The Cappuccino!– foamed with milk, the stuff the French call 'lait'.

Thus indeed, this caf’s an institution setting trends to come,
(Now it dresses up as 'fusion-dish' our foods we place on tongue).
So be in France again – Illusion and the Mind do join as Friend –
And join with friends and have in mind the place where Evening's time you'll spend.

Faites chaleur chaud,
– On sait, qu'il faut –
Venez à Café Sommersko!
